Four Grade II* listed railway structures on heritage trail

CRHT applied to upgrade the following structures from Grade II to Grade II*
  • Primrose Hill Tunnel East Portals - October 2006
  • Stationary Winding Engine Vaults - March 2009
  • Stables Complex in Stables Yard (now part of Stables Market) - November 2010
The first two were recommended for upgrade by English Heritage and approved by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. In the case of the Stables Complex, English Heritage recommended the upgrade of the Horse Hospital, and this was approved in January 2013.

So, including the Roundhouse, there are now four Grade II* listed structures on the Railway Heritage Trail. Such a concentration of highly significant heritage sites is very unusual. Each reinforces the others and we have started the research to support an application for a fifth such designation, the Roving Bridge at Hampstead Road Locks. Any images and information that may help this application should be sent to darleyp@aol,com.
