The Regent's Canal Information Centre at the Lock Keeper's Cottage (Grade II) opened officially in September 2013. Information is provided in a colourful set of wall displays. Greater historical detail may be found in a small room immediately to the right of the entrance. Our original intention was to reveal Camden's key role as a transhipment or interchange centre between canal, road and rail as well as providing information on the geography, history and ecology of the Regent's Canal. Unfortunately we were not given the opportunity to check the wall displays before they went up. The displays are riddled with factual and locational errors, with the result that a so-called "Information Centre" is actually a mine of misinformation. We hope that the errors will be corrected in due course. |
